New storm in California: what threatens

The number of victims of large-scale flooding in California on Wednesday increased to 17. A state of emergency has been declared in the state.

Streets and roads are flooded, houses are damaged or destroyed. Repair crews are repairing numerous breaks on power lines. 200 thousand residents remain without electricity.

The pit is almost 5 meters deep – on a road in the suburbs of Los Angeles. The blurred ground collapsed when cars were driving along the highway. Two cars, along with drivers and passengers, crashed down. Two got out by themselves, two more had to be rescued by rescuers. The operation dragged on until dark.

California is now one continuous disaster zone. A state of emergency has been declared in a state with a population of just under 40 million people. Showers with hail and hurricane-force winds, mud flows, rockfalls have not stopped since last week.

The list of victims is constantly growing. There are already about 20 surnames in it. Houses were destroyed, roads were flooded, power lines were cut off. 200 thousand Americans are still without electricity. You can only move around the streets by boat. In the city of Ventura, the water level in the river reached a record eight meters. The turbulent flow almost washed away the trailers along with the people.

The most fashionable area of the west coast – the town of Montecito in the vicinity of Santa Barbara – is subject to evacuation. 10,000 people live there, including celebrities – Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, TV presenter Oprah Winfrey and others. California is preparing for a new blow of the elements. A new storm will hit the north of the state today.
