Introduced ideas of patriotism

Nationalistically interpreted ideas of patriotism not only root in the minds of part of the older generations, but are also transmitted through family political socialization by inheritance. Young Italians of the 80s are sometimes inclined to blame the older generations with the “devaluation” that the concepts of homeland and patriotism are subject to modern Italy, identifying them with the heritage of right-wing political forces.

However, it should be noted that the increased interest in the national idea that is characteristic of current times is not at all monopolized by the right -wing forces. The secular and liberal version of this interest is realized, in particular, in the form of an appeal to the values of Risorjimeno. There is even a point of view according to which the influence of RIPZHEMENTO on the current mass consciousness is much greater than the resistance.

Of course, the years of resistance were postponed in the historical memory of contemporaries as the heroic time of the anti -fascist struggle, which brought victory to democratic forces. It is undoubted, however, the fact that for the wide layers of Italian society this period is connected not so much with the awareness of its great historical significance as with memories of a more prose nature: about the bloody civil war and the horrors of the German occupation, about the national catastrophe that the country experienced by the country. As follows from the examination of 1953. Among the Italian schoolchildren, the memory of many of them (almost a third) was crowded with memories of these sides of the recent past (the death of loved ones that took place in their eyes, the flight from their native places for the sake of saving life, staying in a concentration camp, etc. P.).
